I can't stand that lack of confidence, so I don't use cheap cheap ammo period.Also, there is a fine line between breaking in and flat out breaking.Even the major ammo manufacturers have had some problems with hot loads in certain batches at times in the past. If the idea is to use low cost ammo to break in a gun, I'd say there is a limit to how low you want to go with ammo quality.For me personally, if I am getting failures, I start to wonder if it's my pistol. This is especially true with 9mm handguns and carbines.I've never heard of anyone claiming a Beretta needed a break-in period.But anyway,There is low cost ammo, then there is low low cost. The safest choice for self-defense purposes is a hollow point round, regardless of the caliber. This is especially true for people living and condominiums or apartments where they may have neighbors above and below them and on either side. We simply do not want that level penetration if we are forced to shoot in self-defense inside our homes, businesses or on the street.
FMJ 9mm round is a great choice for practice and for matches, but don’t load your self defense handgun with that same ammunition. The goal is to point out that the 115 gr.
